A Presentation and Discussion with:

  • Harald Zintl, Director, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Regensburg
  • Alan Ronkin, American Jewish Committee, Director, Washington Regional Office (Moderator)

"...I will defend my Jews in any case!"

Oskar and Emilie Schindler never talked a great deal in public about their motives for their unprecedented rescue mission of 1200 Jews. It’s safe to say that both had played often and gladly with the Jewish neighbor children their age. Hence they rejected with the deepest conviction anti-Semitism and especially the brutality with which the Nazis persecuted the Jews. The biographer Prof. Erika Rosenberg and Harald Zintl, head of the FES Regensburg, have compiled an exhibition which highlights both, Oskar's and Emilie's, part in their underground rescue mission.

The exhibition has been showcased at schools, city-halls, and educational institutions throughout Germany. 2017 marks the first time the exhibition is presented in the United States - e.g. in Tennessee, where it will be on display at multiple universities.

Please note that for this presentation in DC, we will show the exhibition via projector slides during the presentation.
